R1 in the Books: James Ryan Lam Sits T9 as Luisita Softens

The first round of the 2026 DigiPlus Philippine ADT Open is in the books. Thomas Plumb lit up Luisita with a bogey-free 64 (-8) — eight birdies, no scars. James Ryan Lam fired a 68 (-4) and walks off the 18th tied for 9th, three shots back, three rounds to play.

The greens were faster than the gallery was loud. Six Pinoy pros — Lam, Sean Ramos, Fidel Concepcion, Jeffren Lumbo, Shinichi Suzuki, Angelo Que — finished inside the top half of the field going into Friday's second round. That's not a fluke. That's a roster.

What to watch in Round 2 (Friday, 6:30 AM PHT, first tee): Lam is paired inside the top group of the chase pack. The cut line lands somewhere around even-par after two rounds — he's got a four-shot cushion and room to swing. Plumb, having set the tone, now has to defend it against the wind that always wakes up by midday at Luisita.

The bigger story underneath the leaderboard: the top two Filipino finishers this week earn exemptions into the Philippine Open on The International Series in November. That's the real board Lam is playing for. Round 2 is where the chase starts.
