Paraguay just did what nobody in the bracket had on their 2026 bingo card: knock four-time champions Germany out of the World Cup. The Round of 32 tie finished level after 120 minutes of football and went to penalties, where Paraguay held their nerve and Germany blinked first. The result is the biggest upset of the tournament so far and one of the louder statements an underdog has made at this stage in years.

The setting was a packed stadium under the lights — exactly the kind of maximalist scene the Chickenpie world loves. So we dropped Mr. Chicken into the stands for this one, scarf on, foam finger up, watching the final penalty like every other fan in the building. The stadium is the hero. The chicken is just along for the ride.

Paraguay advances to the Round of 16. Germany heads home.
