Love Scam Coop

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the PNP is warning Filipinos to watch out for romance scammers prowling dating apps and social media. Because nothing says “I love you” like a stranger asking for your GCash PIN.

The Scam Behind the Sweet Talk

According to the Philippine National Police, online romance scams spike every February as scammers target people yearning for love, friendship, and connection. They slide into DMs with fake profiles, shower victims with affection, then pivot to the real endgame: your money.

In the Chickenpie universe, we imagine this as a full-blown call center operation run by a smooth-talking rooster with a gold chain and a desk full of phones. Multiple hens being catfished simultaneously. But one smart hen—glasses on, red flag in hand—sees right through the feathered fraud.

If it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably a rooster in a trench coat.

Stay Sharp This Valentine’s

The PNP advises: never send money to someone you haven’t met in person, verify identities through video calls, and report suspicious accounts. Love is beautiful—but so is keeping your savings account intact.

Happy Valentine’s from the Coop. Stay safe out there, chickens. 🐔❤️
